Creative Recovery at the Beacon is a bold, life-affirming programme designed in partnership with Your Voice Inverclyde and shaped by individuals with lived experience of recovery from alcohol and drug dependency. Rooted in compassion and creativity, this three-year initiative offers transformative opportunities for people in recovery - as well as their families and carers - to rebuild confidence, connect with others and express their journeys through the arts.
Participants engage in 12-week cycles exploring drama, visual arts, movement, creative writing, and technical theatre, culminating in public sharings and a final annual showcase. These activities aren't just about performance - they're about healing, collaboration and celebrating personal growth. Each element is shaped by participants themselves, offering meaningful involvement in everything from theme selection and set design to performing and behind the scenes support.
This programme meets vital need in Inverclyde, where recovery services have long recognised the value of creative engagement. By creating space for artistic exploration, the Beacon nurtures resilience, build routine and offers a space
