Record Attendances for Inaugural Beacon Book Festival
The first-ever Beacon Book Festival has been hailed a resounding success, welcoming almost 1,340 attendees across an inspiring and vibrant weekend.
The remarkable turnout demonstrates a clear appetite for a dedicated book festival in Inverclyde, firmly placing the event on Scotland’s literary map. 135 young people from schools across Inverclyde and Renfrewshire took part in the Festival’s schools programme, underlining its strong community reach and meaningful educational impact. From emerging readers to aspiring writers, the next generation played a central role in the Festival’s success.
Audiences travelled from Glasgow, Edinburgh and across the Clyde coast to enjoy appearances from some of the UK’s leading literary voices, creating a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere throughout the weekend. The Festival marks an exciting new cultural chapter for the area, celebrating storytelling, ideas and creativity while bringing together readers, writers and audiences of all ages.
