Damian Barr is an award-winning writer and broadcaster. He won Stonewall Writer of the Year for his memoir Maggie & Me, which was also the Sunday Times Memoir of the Year and became an award-winning stage production. His debut novel, You Will Be Safe Here, was shortlisted for numerous awards and named a book of the year by several newspapers. He is the founder of the Literary Salon in London, and the creator and host of television's The Big Scottish Book Club. Damian is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. to talk about his new novel, inspired by the lives and love of two Scottish artists.
Damian will read from ‘The Twa Roberts’ his latest novel based on the lives of Robert Colquhoun and Robert MacBryde, who shared everything, their art, their bodies, their lives. Stars of the 1940s art world, both were born in Ayrshire, and met on their first day at Glasgow School of Art, quickly becoming inseparable.
