As part of Inverclyde Community Development Trust's Reel Reflections: Going to the Pictures exhibition, join Dr David Manderson and Dr Matthew Gear for a celebration of the work of Greenock-born screenwriter Alan Sharp.
Alan Sharp is one of Scotland's, the UK's and Hollywood's greatest screenwriters. He was also a prize-winning novelist and television and radio playwright, and, in his later years, a leading figure in the new Scottish film industry. Yet today, few people have heard of him.
This presentation by Dr. Matthew Gear and Dr. David Manderson, who have both written and lectured extensively on Sharp and his work, is designed to introduce this extraordinary figure to the public, and to share with them the stories of his films, plays, books and other writing, and also his life.
Inverclyde Community Development Trust's Reel Reflections project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to research and share memories of Inverclyde’s picture house heritage.
This talk is FREE to attend but tickets must be booked in advance.
