Primary and Secondary schools across Inverclyde are invited to get involved in our two schools projects each year. Projects can be tailor-made for your school, with six half-day workshops over a six-week period culminating in a performance either at the Beacon Arts Centre or your school.

Learning to Fly Workshop for Schools

Join award-winning Barrowland Ballet for a lively and engaging dance workshop based on their new production Learning to Fly

Explore the imagery from the Greek legend of Icarus that inspired this production- from Daedalus and his Labyrinth with the Minotaur; to Icarus taking flight and melting his wings - Learn new movement skills and develop a greater understanding of dance and choreography - develop confidence, practice teamwork and celebrate individual creative expression.

This workshop is led by Barrowland Ballet's highly skilled dance artists. It is suitable for participants who are new to dance, as well as those with some experience.

*Participants should wear comfortable clothes, and have bare feet or wear sports shoes.

Date: Tuesday 19 May, 10:30am & 1pm

Duration: 60 minutes

Capacity: 1 class (up to 33 pupils) teachers are asked to remain with pupils during the workshop

Suitability: Ages 7+.

Suitable for participants who are new to dance, as well as those with experience.
