"On August 22nd this year, we reached ‘Earth Overshoot Day’. This is the day that marks our unsustainable use of global resources- the point where our demands exceed the ability of the Earth to provide. What this means is that for every day from now until the end of the year we are borrowing from our future! It was only two years ago that Greta Thunberg came into our consciousness, refusing to attend school and demanding that the world focus attention on the climate crisis, and we saw the power of young people's voices. Since that point, over 80 billion tonnes of greenhouse gasses have been pumped into our atmosphere- and we are still going!

Funded through the Climate Challenge Fund via keep Scotland Beautiful, Belville Community Garden Trust has been working to raise local understanding and awareness of how our own behaviours and actions impact the environment.

Beacon Young Company are partnering with Belville Community Garden Trust to allow our young people to go on an explorative journey, recognising how climate change touches their lives and the lives of people all over the world. With input from Belville Community Garden Trust our young people will be able to investigate climate change on a personal level and express what it means to them whilst building new skills in developing performance for a digital platform."

For the senior group of Beacon Youth Theatre (13+), Beacon Young Company will be working with Belville Community Garden Trust towards a devised digital performance surrounding the topic of Climate Change. All Saturday rehearsals and session to take place digitally.
