Dance artist and choreographer Katie Armstrong is working with Beacon Arts Centre to deliver the SKETCHES Film Project in 2021.

The SKETCHES Film Project is a series of short intricate movement vignettes set to and inspired by Bach's Violin Concerto in A Minor.

Each vignette follows a chance encounter between two dancers, who engage in a fleeting whirlwind physical conversation, exploring the beauty and layering of Bach's work.

SKETCHES Film Project in partnership with Beacon Arts Centre, will be performed and filmed in locations and spaces iconic, meaningful and recognisable to the Inverclyde community.

This work is supported through Creative Scotland and The Work Room and will be run in partnership with Platform Theatre and Beacon Arts Centre.

The SKETCHES film project was originally developed through a co-commission from Tramway and The Work Room for 'Moving out' and was premiered at Dance International Glasgow 2019.  The work was redeveloped for outdoors and filmed in locations around Tramway recognisable and iconic to the Govanhill and Pollokshields communities.

Katie has recently partnered up with Beacon Arts Centre to develop the work in the Inverclyde area, working with local groups to discover more about the Inverclyde area.  Participants have been sharing locations and landmarks iconic to the Inverclyde community.

Most recently, Katie met virtually with the Beacon Arts Centre Ambassador group, where participants shared locations and landmarks which they feel are meaningful to them, and iconic to the Inverclyde Community.
